چکیده

Aim: to report our clinical experience and radiologic results of a surgical stabilization with posterior joint reinforcement. Methods: retrospective study of 6 consecutive patients, with a mean age of 18 years, with complete posterior sternoclavicular joint dislocation operated on by the same operative technique. Surgical stabilization was obtained with sternoclavicular loops passed anteriorly and posteriorly to the joint in order to reinforce the posterior aspect of the capsula. Constant score, a clinical method of functional assessment of the shoulder, and CT scan were used for postoperative evaluation. Results: mean follow-up was 46 months (minimum 17, maximum 129). All patients benefited from full recovery in their professional and sporting activities. Constant score was 85% for the single female patient and up to 95% for the 5 males. CT scan showed an 87% reduction of the backward displacement of the medial end of the clavicle in the anatomic position and a preserved stabilization in the 180° lateral elevation and 90° forward elevation of the upper. Conclusion: in our experience, the procedure using sternoclavicular loops with posterior reinforcement is simple and provides excellent recovery in adolescents and young adults.

Posterior dislocation of the sternoclavicular joint: report of two cases☆

The authors report the cases of two young patients who had suffered a sporting accident with posterior traumatic dislocation of sternoclavicular joint. In one of the patients closed reduction was accomplished by keeping the limb in a sling. The second patient, after reduction was done, presented recurrence of the dislocation, thus requiring surgical treatment. It is important to observe the rel...

Pediatric Posterior Sternoclavicular Joint Injuries.

Posterior sternoclavicular joint injuries are increasingly diagnosed in children and young adults. Most of these injuries are the result of indirect mechanisms, typically lateral compression, with a posterior-to-anterior force applied to the shoulder during sports. Less frequently, these injuries are caused by direct impact on the medial clavicle, which can occur in rollover motor vehicle accid...

Posterior sternoclavicular joint dislocation with brachiocephalic vein compression in an elite hockey player

Posterior sternoclavicular joint dislocation is a rare but potentially serious injury. It is most commonly seen in teenagers or young adults involved in major trauma and can be difficult to diagnose clinically and radiologically. It is our experience that this injury is frequently associated with a delay in diagnosis and may be clinically insignificant initially. Despite this benign early clini...

Figure-of-8 Reconstruction Technique for Chronic Posterior Sternoclavicular Joint Dislocation

Dislocation of the sternoclavicular joint is a rare injury and typically requires high-energy forces applied through the joint. Initial treatment is dependent on the direction of dislocation, with acute reduction indicated for posterior dislocations presenting with signs of tracheal, esophageal, or neurovascular compression. Although most patients do well with conservative treatment after the i...

A 5-year evaluation and results of treatment of chronic locked dislocations of the shoulder joint
